Associate Executive Director

The League of Human Dignity (League) is a consumer controlled, community based, private nonprofit corporation serving all people with disability in urban and rural areas of Nebraska and Southwestern Iowa. Since 1971, the League has engaged in advocacy and provided services that assist people with disability to establish and maintain independent lives in their homes and communities.. The League’s operations generate annual revenue of approximately $4.8 million. The League employs 75-80 individuals.

 

The League operates Centers for Independent Living in Lincoln, Norfolk, and Omaha Nebraska, and a Center for Independent Living in Council Bluffs Iowa. In addition, the League has offices that provide services coordination and resource development activities for consumers of the Nebraska Medicaid Waiver for Adults with Disability Program, in Kearney, North Platte, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska,

 

In addition, the League owns and operates Mobility Options, a medical equipment and vehicle modification business serving the eastern one third of Nebraska.

 

The Associate Executive Director position is a new position that is being developed to enhance the long term strength and operations of the organization. The person in this position will work in tandem with, and at the direction of the League of Human Dignity’s Chief Executive Officer. This position will be based in the League’s Central Office in Lincoln, Nebraska. The target start date for this position is mid-November of 2015.

 

The League’s Goal in selecting the right person for this position is to find someone who has deep roots in, and a strong commitment to the Center for Independent Living Movement, and the Independent Living Philosophy.

The successful applicant must have demonstrated excellent management skills and experience, business savvy, creative and critical thinking skills, a strong customer service philosophy, and demonstrated excellent customer service skills. In addition, this individual must be skilled in negotiations, be adept at conflict resolution, and be able to respond quickly and effectively to unplanned developments and circumstances.

 

Required qualifications are a Baccalaureate degree in social work, public administration, or relevant human services field, and at least five years successful full time paid experience in senior or executive level management of a Center for Independent Living (preferred), or human service agency serving people with disability. Experience should include budgeting and fiscal management, supervision of multiple staff, grant writing, fund development, contract management, grants management, personnel management, project management, and advocacy.

 

Knowledge of laws and regulations that assure the rights of people with disability, and programs that allow people with disability to live independently in their homes and communities is necessary.

Starting salary range is $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience and skill levels, plus benefits.

Independent Living Advisor - Lincoln

The League of Human Dignity is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a full time Independent Living Advisor working out of our Lincoln Center for Independent Living. This individual will provide an array of services that assist people with disability to live independently in their homes and communities. Services will include information and referral, peer mentor services, advocacy, independent living skills training, and services that help people transition from nursing homes to independent living situations, financial benefits counseling, coordination of services, and a variety of other services that support people to lead independent lives.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, counseling, educational psychology, education, human development, or closely related human service field, or equivalent full time experience, or a combination of education and equivalent full time experience. In addition, you must also have at least one year of full time experience in a combination of case management, case documentation, coordination of services, collaboration with community resources, teaching, or training.

This position requires travel throughout the League’s Lincoln Service Area, and you will need to provide own means of transportation. As a Services Coordinator you will determine the eligibility of applicants for the Nebraska Medicaid Waiver Program for Adults with Disability, conduct a needs assessment, and in conjunction with Consumers develop a plan of services. You would assist to recruit independent in home providers, negotiate rates, authorize, and monitor services. This is not an exhaustive description of job duties.

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a Baccalaureate degree in relevant area of Human Services, and 2 years full-time experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, or community health fields are required. Services Coordination will be provided in Consumers’ homes, so travel throughout the League’s Lincoln Service area is required. Applicants must also be proficient in the use of computers and various computer software programs. You will be expected to provide your own transportation, and we will reimbursement you on a per mile basis. Qualified individuals with disability are strongly encouraged to apply. Medicaid Waiver Office Director - North Platte

The League of Human Dignity is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to serve as the part time (25 hours per week) Office Director of the League’s North Platte Nebraska Medicaid Waiver Office. The starting date for this position is immediate.

In order to be eligible for consideration, you must have at least a Baccalaureate Degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university. In addition, you must have at least 3 years paid full time experience in management at a Center for Independent Living, human service agency, or large human service program serving people with disability or older adults. Experience must include supervision of staff, case management, and other related duties.

Four years successful full time experience working with Nebraska’s Aged and Disabled Medicaid Waiver Program is preferred.

The League of Human Dignity’s North Platte Office provides services coordination and resource development services to Nebraskan’s with Disability who are receiving services from the Nebraska Adults with Disability Medicaid Waiver Program.

Provided services include in home eligibility determination, assessment, development; with consumers, of a plan of services, and regular follow up to assure plan implementation, and the effectiveness of the plan. In addition we provide services that assist consumers to locate in home providers, complete the provider enrollment process, process billing documents, and monitor provider performance.

$18.00-$21.00 per hour plus benefits.

The Lincoln Medicaid Waiver Supervisor is responsible for supervising Services Coordinators during their provision of services coordination and resource development services to Consumers who are being served by the Medicaid Waiver Program.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Baccalaureate Degree in a human services field, and at least two years full time experience in long term care, gerontology, rehabilitation, community health, or working directly with people who experience disability. In addition, applicants must have three years full time experience

supervising multiple staff providing services to people with disability in a case management or other direct service setting.

Experience working in Nebraska’s Aged and Disabled Waiver is preferred.

The starting salary is $35,000-$40,000 per year, plus a generous benefits package.
